Sundt Construction Inc. has been chosen by the Pima County Board of Supervisors to manage construction of the new Pima Animal Care Center.

Last fall, county voters approved a $22 million bond to build a new animal center. Capacity of the current facility, built in 1968, is 500 pets, but it often houses as many as 1,000, the county says.

Sundt was named construction manager at risk, which means it must guarantee a maximum construction cost.

Sundt Construction, part of Tucson-based Sundt Companies, built both the Pima County Public Service Center and Emergency Communications and Operations Center within the last three years. Line and Space, a local architectural firm, is designing the new facility.

Dick’s Sporting Goods hiring 70 for new store

Dick’s Sporting Goods is now hiring for its new store on Broadway and Wilmot Road. The retailer wants to fill about 70 full-time and part-time positions, including management and associate positions.

The new store, in the Wilmot Plaza, is expected to open in September.

Ideal candidates should be sports or outdoor enthusiasts, the company said in a news release.
