Bottle Breacher, a Tucson company, will appear on a special veteran-themed episode of “Shark Tank” at 8 p.m. today on KGUN Channel 9. The show will feature entrepreneurs with military backgrounds.
Bottle Breacher makes bottle openers out of recycled .50-caliber ammunition. It came about when Elijah Crane, a former Navy Seal, wanted to make something unique out of products he used when he was deployed. Crane and his wife, Jen, started the company in 2012, via an Etsy shop.
Veterans, reservists and active duty service members handcraft all of the bottle openers, which are made from professionally powder-coated, polished and engraved dummy ammunition.
The duo leased a 1,200-square-foot warehouse space at 1870 W. Prince Road in August, which, according to the “Shark Tank” blog, could work to the company’s advantage in making its pitch.

Elijah Crane will pitch to a panel of five potential investors, also known as “sharks,” on the business and its prospects for growth.
The object of the show is to convince the panel that the company is worth an investment, by going over business plans, financials and sales data, as well as by showing that they are capable of running the business up to “shark standards.”
