As the holiday weekend kicks off, Arizona's gasoline prices are the lowest in five weeks.
But that's not as good as it might sound.
"Even though the price of fuel has dropped to a five-week low, motorists have never paid this much for fuel heading into Memorial Day weekend," Linda Gorman, public affairs director for AAA Arizona, said in a news release Thursday.
Drivers don't seem too discouraged, though. More than 626,000 auto travelers from Arizona will take a trip of 50 or more miles from home this weekend, according to AAA's forecast.
Statewide, the average price for regular is $3.68 a gallon this week, a decrease of nearly 4 cents from last week.
Tucson's average dropped 3.6 cents per gallon in the last week, taking it to $3.58, AAA Arizona's survey shows.
