Tombstone’s Union High School building, built in 1922, has been on and off the real estate market since 2007, with no potential buyers currently in sight.
The school has been vacant since 2006, when students and faculty moved to a new school .
“We’ve gotten just a couple of people asking about it, but nothing profound,” said Linda D’Ambrose, realtor for Keller Williams Realty Southern Arizona.
The property had gone off the market in 2012 when a potential buyer wanted to turn it into a boutique hotel, D’Ambrose said.
That sale fell through, and the property wasn’t put back on the market until this March, when Keller Williams Realty Southern Arizona picked it up.
The landmark building, at 645 E. Fremont Street, sits on 4.5 acres, near the famous Allen Street and Bird Cage Theatre. It features 12-foot ceilings, original hardwood floors, 8-foot windows and a stage — all for $2.2 million.

The listing price was reduced by $550,000 in July.
“This is a very unique property, so, to find a buyer is somewhat challenging,” D’Ambrose noted.
Three buildings — Union High School, its gymnasium and a former science building — as well as the football field and tennis courts are included in the property.
“There are many possibilities,” suggests a listing for the propeorty, “such as hotel/spa, reception hall, dinner theater, retail/antique shops, micro brewing or wine tasting.”
“The high school building is a wonderful historical building and architecture,” D’Ambrose said. “It deserves to have someone purchase and restore it and bring it back to life again.”
