Chefs turn out to greet Copper River salmon
The season has started, foodies.
The Alaska Airlines flight carrying the season's first shipment of highly prized Copper River salmon from Alaska arrived in Seattle Tuesday, to begin distribution nationwide.
Alaska Airlines had at least five more Tuesday flights with the salmon from Cordova to Anchorage to Seattle and across the country. Some Seattle chefs went to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport early Tuesday to greet the first shipment.
Last year Alaska flew nearly 700,000 pounds of Copper River salmon, which is known for its rich color and taste.

The demand to buy a piece of LinkedIn is so intense that the eight-year-old company is expected to make its stock market debut Thursday with a value of at least $4 billion. That would make LinkedIn's initial public offering of stock the biggest by a U.S. Internet company since Google Inc. went public in 2004.
For home builders, this feels like no recovery
The Commerce Department said Tuesday that new-home construction plummeted last month to a seasonally adjusted rate of 523,000 homes a year.
If the pace doesn't improve, this year could end up with fewer new homes than last year and only slightly more than 2009 - the two worst years in records dating back a half-century.
