Longtime Tucson dealership Emich Subaru has been sold to the owners of Volvo of Tucson.
Brothers Rocky and Mike DiChristofano, longtime owners of Broadway Volvo (now Volvo of Tucson, located at the Tucson Auto Mall), plan to keep the Subaru dealership at 6020 E. Speedway.
Rocky DiChristofano said they plan to complete the sale and change the dealership's name to Subaru of Tucson in January. Emich Subaru is Tucson's only Subaru dealer.
Subaru is one of the best-performing auto brands, one of the few to do well in the recession, Rocky DiChristofano said.
"They're a shining star in the auto industry, they're at a record pace," he said. "They build a great product. It's really affordable. We think there's a lot of potential for growth in the Tucson market."
"We've been looking to grow our business," he added.

He said moving their Volvo dealership to the Tucson Auto Mall was the first part of that growth.
Tom Emich said he couldn't talk about his plans except to say he still has an auto dealer's license and plans to stay in the business.
Emich said he bought the Tucson Subaru franchise from Jim Click in 1989.
The Emich dealership opened as an Oldsmobile franchise in 1985 and added the Subaru line. General Motors closed the Oldsmobile Division in 2004.
Emich moved to the Speedway site after leaving its home at 6350 E. Grant Road.
Emich said he moved after GM closed the Oldsmobile Division because the Grant Road space was too large for a Subaru dealership, roughly six acres compared to the three-acre Speedway site.
