Arizona Attorney General Tom Horne has filed consumer-fraud lawsuits against two Arizona moving companies, including one based in Tucson.
The lawsuits against 3 Gorillas Moving and Storage LLC in Tucson and Allstars Movers and Storage Inc. of Phoenix allege that the companies engaged in numerous false, misleading, unfair, and deceptive acts and practices.
Those practices include falsely representing the costs of their services; demanding payment when reaching moving destinations and refusing to unload consumers’ property from trucks unless customers pay higher rates; and providing an unfair claims process for damaged, destroyed or lost items, Horne’s office alleges.
3 Gorillas did not return calls for comment Tuesday afternoon.
Allstars also could not be reached for comment; several of its phone numbers have been disconnected, The Arizona Republic reported.

Both lawsuits ask the defendants to pay restitution to consumers damaged by defendants’ actions, as well as a fine of up to $10,000 for each violation of the Consumer Fraud Act. The Allstars case also seeks up to $25,000 for each willful violation of a consent judgment filed in response to a state lawsuit filed in 2010.
Allstars also goes by the names Allstar Moving & Storage, Inc., Allways Moving and Storage, Easymoveaz, Allstar Moving and Storage, Allstars Movers, Movers and a Truck, and The Moving and Storage Co., the attorney general said.
The defendants have no connection to Allstar Metro Movers of Glendale, the attorney general said.
