Tucson Barbershop eXperience may be onto something: combine their age-old harmonies with the excitement of the circus.
OK, so we're not talking real circus, with the big top, the freak shows and real animals. But they have gone to extraordinary lengths to make you think you're at the circus:
• They've made towering animals - giraffes, lions, tigers, elephants - from papier-mâché . The action heats up when Mystic Mentalist charms the animals.
• You'll swear Barnum and Bailey are backstage when you see the Great Ginsu throw his knives.
• And let's not forget the snake charmer.
OK, so the knives are fake and the snake's a rope. But you're missing the point: the music. It's as much a part of the circus as the elephants.
