New Tucson restaurant to open
Brian Metzger and his wife, Sandy, plan to open Jax Kitchen by the end of July.
The couple named the restaurant, which will offer mid-priced international bistro fare, after their 18-month-old son, Jackson.
Jax will be at 7286 N. Oracle Road, where Conti's Italian Ristorante closed May 30.
"Our goal is to give people the best food in town for the money," said Metzger, 30. "We've been promising nothing but consistency. We can deliver that."
Jax will be open only for dinner until October, after which the Tucson restaurant will also offer lunch and brunch. Entrees will range from $9 to $20.
The wine list will feature smaller producers from around the world, and Jax will offer a "simple, clean drink list" with infused spirits and microbrews.

Metzger has worked at a number of restaurants, including several owned by Sam Fox. In Tucson, he was the general manager of Wildflower and North, and he helped open Bistro Zin in the summer of 2000.
The Metzgers are in the process of remodeling the 2,400-square-foot space, making it light, airy and contemporary.
The Tucson restaurant will make pasta and house-cured meats. Metzger's goal is to change Jax menu once a month.
