Ride: If Spider-Man drove a car, it'd probably be the Scorpion Mach 1, which looks straight out of the Army, only the military doesn't use it — yet. Jungen's Mach 1 is the prototype for the Scorpion Mach 4, which takes him about six months to manufacture and sells for roughly $70,000. The Scorpion Mach 1 has been featured on the Discovery Channel's "Monster Garage," in which Jungen climbed a vertical wall in it, among other feats. Jungen says the Mach 1 is street legal and he drives it around town three to four times a week.
Top speed: 110 mph
The experience: After literally climbing into the Mach 1, I went for a test ride with Jungen. Our destination was an empty parking lot off East 22nd Street with small but steep hills of gravel. Jungen maneuvered over the large lumps while barely adjusting the steering wheel. The Scorpion crawled over the mounds and never came close to rolling over, even though as a passenger I felt physically horizontal at times. Some awe-struck kids with their dad stared at us as we drove away.

The word: Under the hood, the Scorpion has a lot fewer wires than your average car. "Through simplicity, you get reliability," Jungen said.
