After 20 years housing Tucson's popular Sushi Garden, sushi is no doubt part of the DNA of 15 N. Alvernon.
So it is not surprising that a sushi restaurant will replace Sushi Garden, which vacated earlier this summer for a prized spot at Broadway Village.
By mid-September, Jennifer and Sonny Chu expect to open Azian, a Korean-Japanese fusion concept that will offer all-you-can-eat sushi and Korean barbecue. The couple are renovating the space.
Sonny Chu, who is versed in all genres of Asian cuisine, will man the kitchen, and his wife will manage the restaurant. The couple's oldest daughter will take over running their eight-year-old Fusion Wasabi Japanese Sushi & Steak at 250 S. Craycroft Road, Jennifer Chu said.
She said no prices have been set, but she imagines they will be competitive with other sushi buffets - about $20 per person. "We might be a couple dollars more because of the barbecue," she added.

Each table will be equipped with a grill that diners will use to cook their beef, chicken, pork or seafood marinated in Korean spices. The buffet also will feature rice, noodle and vegetable side dishes, salads and desserts.
The restaurant's hours tentatively will be from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 to 10 p.m. Sunday through Monday, and until 12:30 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
