Charlie's says goodbye
The loyal Green Bay Packers fans who flocked to Charlie's Tavern and Grill must be banging their cheeseheads against a wall.
Their favorite neighborhood bar, 3412 N. Dodge Blvd., is closed.
A message on Charlie's voicemail says, "The choice to close was not an easy one but necessary due to unforeseeable circumstances. We want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your patronage and hope that our paths will cross again one day."

Harvest to open Nov. 24
Oro Valley will welcome Harvest, the newest venture from the folks behind Zona 78 and the Grill at Hacienda del Sol, on Nov. 24 — about three weeks behind schedule.

The restaurant's owners said in August that they had hoped to open by Nov. 3.
Harvest features seasonally inspired cooking using domestic and locally grown ingredients including grass-fed beef from Oracle, organic vegetables from Willcox, and pecans and walnuts from Bowie, according to a news release.
Entrees will run $15-$29. Harvest occupies the former Torino Ristorante, 10355 N. La Cañada Drive. Details and reservations: 731-1100.

A new restaurant specializing in traditional Eastern European cuisine has plans to open in the former home of Olive Tree Greek Restaurant by month's end.
"It looks like we're going to be the only place serving traditional German and Polish food," said Peter Witusik, adding that his Amber Restaurant and Gallery also will serve American cuisine such as ribs and steak.
Witusik, who is from Poland, said he used to own a restaurant in Europe before moving to the United States about 20 years ago.
He said he has remodeled the space at 7000 E. Tanque Verde Road.
"There is a beautiful garden in the back that we can use for some outside dining," he said.

Peter Piper Pizza is planning to open its 10th location in the Tucson area by early December.
The new spot, in the Tucson Spectrum near West Irvington Road and Interstate 19, is a concept store that introduces an upscale look for the franchise.
There'll be a seating area with multiple televisions for adults. It will continue to offer video and redemption games, and be a go-to place for large groups.

Diners can indulge in a little French joie de vivre from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays at Ghini's French Caffé,1803 E. Prince Road.
Owner Coralie Satta says she started the "Aperitif Hour," which features small French-focused dishes and $5 off bottles of wine, in early October, and it seems to be catching on. Some patrons have returned every week.

The Janos Cooking School is launching a new session Saturday with a class on Thanksgiving dinner focused on flavors from the Southwest. Dishes include roast turkey adobado with blue cornbread and mushroom stuffing.
Classes are led by Janos Wilder, the chef and owner of Janos restaurant, 3770 E. Sunrise Drive. Each starts at 1 p.m. and lasts about two and a half hours.
