The Mayan calendar says the world ends on Friday.
Not one to miss an opportunity to turn a potential doomsday into a social gathering, Club Congress is hosting an End of the World Party with Burger Records that same night.
Beginning at 8 p.m. Friday the California-based label will present a number of its artists- including Lovely Bad Things, Acorn Bcorn, Feeding People and Freezing Hands - for an evening of song and merrymaking.
The cost is $5 in advance at Club Congress, 311 E. Congress St. It's $7 at the door. For details, call 622-8848.

Pearson's is ringing in the end of all time with a "Mad Max"-meets-"Tank Girl"-themed affair starting at 9 p.m.
The eastside bar, which filled the void left behind by The Speakeasy, will have happy hour all day and will offer $5 car bombs and $4 Jaeger shots after 9 p.m., as well as quarter shots at 11:12 p.m., if we manage to survive that long.
Pearson's has a costume contest planned with cash prizes, so wear your favorite Armageddon attire.

The bar/restaurant's kitchen will be open until midnight, with $4 selected appetizer specials and $3 rotating shot specials starting at 7 p.m.
La Gitana Cantina

If you feel like driving to the ends of the Earth to celebrate the end of the world, try La Gitana in Arivaca, a little more than an hour south of downtown.
Chuck Wagon and the Wheelchairs have a special doomsday set in store, starting at 7 p.m.

Bacon is the big theme at Bumsted's, as the Fourth Avenue restaurant rolls out bacon-inspired snacks and drinks for the big show.
"We have a lot of bacon on our menu," said Nicole Dybel, who works at Bumsted's and helped plan the event. "It is an end of the world thing. You might as well clog your arteries while you can."
Not a big bacon fan? Bumsted's will also have a DJ and drink specials.

Or at least one, Saturday, when Sidepony Music presents "A Post Apocalyptic Social." Doors open at 9 p.m. and Tucson acoustic prowler Lisa Lemke plays the first set at 9:30. Also on the bill is the band Treasurefruit, Little Red Lung from L.A. and Horizon out of Phoenix.
