When the rock musical "Hair" and the rock opera "Jesus Christ Superstar" hit Broadway, the impact was monumental. Those who loved them were ecstatic; those who didn't were vocally dismayed.
Both shows were sure signs that the times they were a'changing, as Bob Dylan so aptly sang. Another sure sign? Hairstyles.
We asked readers to submit photos of the way they looked some 40 years ago and how they look today. The best would receive tickets to both shows — slated for Tucson runs this month.
However, our judges — Arizona Theatre Company's Bevan Brunelle Bluemer and Broadway in Tucson's Marc Viscardi — were so impressed with the submissions that they couldn't stop with one winner.
They awarded the tickets to both shows to Stu and Arlene Antzis. Mae Krueger received two tickets to "Jesus Christ Superstar," and Tom Thompson got two tickets to "Hair." You can click on the photos at right and read their stories as well as the other ones that appeared in print Sunday in Accent.
