Palo Verde Road rollover
kills Tucson man, 46
A 46-year-old Tucson man was killed Monday in a rollover on South Palo Verde Road, just south of West Irvington Road.
A 911 call came in about 4:20 p.m. of a rollover in which a silver pickup landed in a wash, said Deputy Tom Peine, a Pima County Sheriff's Department spokesman.
The driver, Michael Dean Duchene, the only occupant, was partially thrown from the pickup and pronounced dead at the scene, Peine said. A motorist traveling behind the pickup told investigators that the truck drifted into the left lane and hit the median curb, and the driver lost control and left the roadway before landing in the wash, Peine said.

Guilty plea in death of migrant woman
A 51-year-old Mexican national pleaded guilty in a smuggling case in which an immigrant died.
Hiliberto Jimenez-Palacios pleaded guilty Friday to transportation of an illegal alien resulting in a death, according to a U.S. Attorney's Office news release.
On June 29, 2011, Jimenez-Palacios led a group of five undocumented immigrants from Mexico into Arizona. The group did not have enough food or water.
The temperatures exceeded 100 degrees, and the victim - a woman - showed signs of dehydration on the first day of the journey. She died on the second day.
When the group ran out of water, Jimenez-Palacios instructed the immigrants to wait by the side of a road and give themselves up to law enforcement. Several were dehydrated and required medical attention, the release said.
Jimenez-Palacios was later captured on the same road. He told authorities that he was looking for water, and that he was abandoned by a smuggler, according to the news release.
Jimenez-Palacios is scheduled for sentencing Sept. 21.
