A 27-year-old man pleaded guilty Friday to aggravated assault for his involvement in a high-speed crash that killed one person and seriously injured another.
John Adam Williams faces nearly nine years in prison when he’s sentenced April 13 by Pima County Superior Court Judge Edgar Acuna.
Williams and Ehren Sherow, 26, were driving northbound on North Kolb Road near North Sabino Canyon Road at speeds exceeding 80 miles per hour on April 17, 2007, said Williams’ lawyer, Steven West.
Their vehicles were neck-and-neck when the roadway narrowed to one lane, West said. The vehicles bumped, he said, causing Sherow’s SUV to spin out and collide with a minivan traveling south on Kolb.
Sherow’s vehicle caught fire as a result of the crash, causing third-degree burns to 55 percent of his body, police said. He died May 3, 2007.
