Three young men who barricaded themselves inside a Southwest Side home after authorities say they caught them burglarizing it have been identified.
Julian Flores Canez, 16, Luis Ignacio Quintero, 18, and Ruben Martinez Vega, 19, face one count each of first-degree burglary, according to Deputy Dawn Barkman, a Pima County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman.
They were taken into custody Monday night, seven hours after neighbors called 911 to report seeing three men trying to burglarize a home in the 7000 block of South Camino Derecho, near South Mission and West Valencia roads.
When deputies arrived at the residence, the burglars barricaded themselves inside.
The SWAT Team was called out to negotiate with the young men and dogs were used in an effort to drive them out; however the dogs were unable to get into the room that they were in, Barkman said.
