PHOENIX — A Tempe defense attorney has been arrested after he allegedly passed drugs to a prisoner.
Phoenix police arrested 42-year-old David Paul De Costa Friday.
Phoenix police spokesman Sgt. Trent Crump said authorities believe De Costa gave heroin and other “narcotic and dangerous drugs,” to a prisoner during a morning court preceding.
A warrant was also issued for an accomplice identified by Phoenix police as Emily Keen.
Crump said police searched Keen’s home and discovered an unspecified amount of narcotics and cash.
Phoenix police suspect that Keen was De Costa’s co-conspirator in the case.
Crump said both were booked on suspicion of transferring and selling drugs, participating in a criminal syndicate, as well as conspiracy to promote contraband in detention facilities.
