Three people died, and up to seven more were seriously injured, when a commercial transport van rolled on Interstate 8 near Sentinel, west of Gila Bend, DPS says.
The Department of Public Safety gave the following account in a news release:
Shortly after 7:30 Sunday night, DPS officers responded to the single-vehicle accident on westbound I-8 near milepost 84.
The driver of the van, which was carrying 12 passengers, lost control and rolled over onto the right shoulder of the roadway. A total of 12 passengers were in the van.
Three passengers are confirmed dead. Between five and seven passengers were being transported by helicopter to area trauma centers. Two passengers sustained minor injuries.
There were apparently no children among the passengers.

The identity of the driver, passengers and transport company name were being withheld until victims' relatives could be notified. The cause of the collision is under investigation.
