Ezequiel Peña came this close to winning a mainstream Grammy at last February's annual awards ceremony.
The Regional Mexican singer known for his traditional outfits, hearty vocals and his way around a horse was in the running for his 2006 Fonovisa release, "A Mucha Honra," but lost out to fellow rider and legendary singer/songwriter Joan Sebástian.
Peña will probably have an easier time winning over Tucsonans when he performs at the Gran Fiesta Mexicana at the Tucson Rodeo GroundsSaturday.
The California-based musician will be one of several performers attending the gran show ecuestre including Los Nenes De la Sierra, Los Litos, Banda Sinaloense, Su Gran Mariachi and Grupo Norteño.
Fun and games will be available for the kids and caballos bailadores de alta esquela will also be on hand.
