A man who was shot to death outside of his South Tucson home Tuesday has been identified as Adam Lopez Basurto, 42.
No arrests have been made in connection with the slaying — the first of the year in South Tucson, according to Chief Sharon Hayes-Martinez. The motive is undetermined.
Police were called to the 100 block of East 33rd Street and found Basurto in life-threatening condition. He was taken to University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 12:25 p.m.
Witnesses told police that Basurto was outside of his home talking to another man when the shooter walked up to him and fired a small handgun. The shooter then ran to a car waiting a block west of the incident.
Basurto’s wife was inside the residence at the time of the shooting.
The gunman is described as a man roughly 25 to 30 years old, 180 pounds, wearing black jeans and a black shirt with a gold snake design on the front. The getaway driver is described as a man with his hair in braids.
