• Feb. 5. The Tanque Verde Valley Democratic Club will host U.S. Senate candidate Richard Carmona at its annual meeting from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Kirk-Bear Canyon Library, 8959 E. Tanque Verde Road. All local Democrats are welcome and organizers promise you'll be home for kickoff.
• Feb. 7. Republican Precinct 388 is hosting a debate featuring several candidates for Pima County sheriff. The event, moderated by radio personality Jon Justice, begins at 6 p.m. at the Voyager Catalina Room, 8701 S. Kolb Road, off Interstate 10. Free tickets are available at GOP headquarters, 5447 E. Fifth St.

The Tucson chapter of Progressive Democrats of America is co-hosting a talk by Margaret Flowers, a spokeswoman for Physicians for a National Health Program, and Kevin Zeese, who will speak about the Occupy movement. The event, which is also being sponsored by Physicians for a National Health Program of Arizona and the Alliance for Global Justice, begins at 7 p.m. at the Pima County Housing Center, 801 W.
