McDonald's restaurants across the state are hosting a Family Reading Day Nov. 2.
Starting at 1 p.m., the first 100 families that visit their local McDonald's will receive a free Scholastic book for toddlers through sixth-graders, an ice cream cone and a Read On Arizona Early Literacy Guide for families to help support their child's reading.
“We know many Arizona families have a lack of access to books,” said Michael Osborne, president of Southern Arizona McDonald’s Operator Association. “We’re thrilled to partner with Read On Arizona to provide these valuable resources to help children improve their reading skills.”
Tucson Mayor Jonathan Rothschild will kick off the event at McDonald's on Oracle near Wetmore roads by reading a book to children at the restaurant.
A total of 25,000 books and early literacy guides will be handed out. As part of the event, McDonald’s restaurants across Arizona also will host reading screenings from 1 to 3 p.m.
