A yoga instructor at a south side gym was arrested for disorderly conduct after employees reported she “appeared to be tweaking,” according to a Pima County sheriff’s report.
The gym manager reported that the instructor, a woman, in her mid-30s, “came in yelling at him because of a check she had not received.
“He stated he was laying on the weight bench lifting weights when she came up and started yelling at him. She sat on top of him and then got her face within about an inch or two of his face while she was yelling at him,” according to the report.
It was at that point the manager “smelled what he thought to be alcohol on her breath.”
The yoga instructor “then went off on a rampage and started running around the facility grabbing different things. She went into the bathroom and grabbed a basket of stuff, went over to the yoga studio and then came back” to the main building.

By that time the manager was on the telephone to the gym’s owner. He handed the phone to the yoga instructor, “she was swinging the phone around, putting it up in the air, putting it down to her side and she claimed that the phone was broken and she couldn’t hear (the owner) when, in reality, she never actually held the phone to her face to talk to him,” the report stated.
When the instructor “stormed out and went down to the yoga studio,” the manager locked the door to the gym and called the sheriff’s department.
Deputies found the instructor in the yoga studio. When asked her name, the woman spelled it out, then looked at each of the three deputies nametags and spelled their names.
She “was spelling numerous words after stating them and was rambling uncontrollably,” one deputy reported. The woman said she had not taken her medication for several days and had not eaten in the last 24 hours, but declined an offer to receive medical treatment. She told deputies she had to yell at the gym manager because the music was so loud in the workout room.
They also noted she “was very erratic. At times she would just talk at an appropriate level and then suddenly she would escalate her voice and was agitated.”
A member of the gym verified the instructor’s odd behavior, stating, “at one point she came up and started undoing the Velcro on his shoes and she was messing around with his shoes for no apparent reason whatsoever. He stated it was the strangest behavior he had ever seen.”
When the owner arrived, he took back her key to the yoga studio, gave the instructor her paycheck and told officers he planned to fire her.
