A 34-year-old inmate, who escaped from a work crew at the Pima Animal Care Center, was captured on the city's south side Thursday.
Laura Rios, who was serving time for a probation violation for trafficking in stolen property, was captured by the Pima County Sheriff's Department Fugitive Investigative Strike Team near South Campbell Avenue and East Irvington Road, authorities said.
Rios was apprehended shortly before 1 p.m. She had just left a nearby residence with her boyfriend, Rodolfo Rios, 34, who was also arrested for a probation violation on an armed robbery charge, said sheriff's officials.
Laura Rios was booked into the Pima County jail on one count of escape.
On Sunday, she walked away at about 1 p.m. from a work crew at the animal care center, said Deputy Tracy Suitt, a sheriff's department spokesman.
