7 Day Forecast
We don’t know what you’re getting for Christmas, but we are certain it is not snow.
Historically, according to the weather folks, there is a 0.1 percent chance of that happening on any given Christmas in Tucson.
That number comes from the website climatecentral.org, which used National Weather Service records to compute the odds.
The weather report backs that up this year. It will be clear Christmas Eve, stars brightly shining and all that.
There is a bit of snow left on Mount Lemmon, however, and more snow showers could fall there on Christmas night. In Tucson, there is a slight chance of rain showers late Thursday.
The odds for getting snowed on are worse in Phoenix, where the historical chance is zero.
To make matters even less Christmasy, Maricopa County authorities have declared a Christmas Eve ban on chestnuts roasting on an open fire.

The Maricopa County “no burn” ban is due to an atmospheric inversion that has already trapped a lot of soot at breathing level in the Valley of the Sun.
Maricopa Air Quality Director Philip McNeely was apologetic in issuing the decree:
“We understand that many people will have family and friends over for the holidays and gathering around a fire may be part of the holiday celebrations. However, when soot concentrations reach these levels, they present a serious health risk to children, older adults, and people with pre-existing respiratory conditions,”
Not to mention the serious risk to the jolly old elf himself.
