A Salpointe Catholic High School teacher who resigned amidst allegations of sexual misconduct with a student was involved in an earlier incident with another pupil, an official said Wednesday.
The Rev. Fred Tillotson, head of the school, declined on Wednesday to go into detail about the incident but said that it did involve a student and resulted in that student being disciplined.
A letter obtained by the Arizona Daily Star states that the student, a senior, was expelled for reportedly giving the teacher a "swift tap" but that it was all in fun.
The letter, which was written by the student, goes on to say: "I was responsible for my own actions. . . . Given I had done it many times before and any one that knows me knows that the swift tap I gave (her) was more of a 'good game' than anything sexual at all."
The student asks for an apology from the administrators in light of the 24-year-old teacher's resignation and asks that he be invited to walk in the graduation ceremony.

Tillotson would not confirm or deny any of the details from the letter, saying only that it was "grossly overstated and does not reflect the true situation at all."
The student and his parents declined to comment Wednesday night, saying they needed to consult their attorney, whose name they would not release.
The teacher resigned last week after being confronted about a separate incident. She was said to have been dating an underage student — not the student involved in the first incident — and that their relationship was becoming increasingly physical, according to Tucson police reports.
The following day, Tucson police searched her home, taking DNA from her, samples of her couch, living-room rug, love seat, mattress and floor in the bedroom, court documents state.
According to the document, the "offense" is believed to have gone on from December 2006 through February 2007.
The investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made.
