The San Diego Zoo released a photo today of Tucson's former elephants, Connie and Shaba, on their first day at their new home.
Both elephants are settling in and interacting with keepers after a 400-mile journey that brought them from Tucson's Reid Park Zoo to the San Diego Zoo. The elephants arrived safely on Wednesday and will remain in quarantine for a minimum of six weeks.
Connie, 44, and Shaba, 32, will eventually join the San Diego Zoo's five elephants, giving the two newcomers additional herd mates to socialize with.
