The Victim: Marcello Madrid, 40 years old at the time of death.
The Suspect: Ismael "Mayo" Eguira, 32, also known as Ismael Agire, Ismael F. Sanchez and Ismael Equihua.
When and Where: Oct. 26, 2001, in the 2900 block of East Proctor Vista, near East 36th Street and South Country Club Road.
Investigator: Detective Joe Sowards of the Tucson Police Department.
Summary: Madrid was involved in an argument at a carne asada, or barbecue, Sowards said.
The argument resulted in gunfire that hurt one person and fatally injured Madrid, he said.
Madrid was found dead by police, lying in a street about a block from the gathering, Sowards said.
A warrant for Eguira's arrest was issued in April 2002 on charges of second-degree murder. Police believe he has fled to Michoacan state in Mexico, Sowards said.

Police have linked Madrid to a drug theft in Sinaloa, Mexico, but aren't sure what role that may have played in his death, Sowards said.
