Mesa teen arrested after school threat
A 16-year-old girl from Mesa was arrested Thursday after she posted a threat on YouTube that she planned to kill people at her high school and then commit suicide, authorities say.
The girl had access to guns at her home but never brought firearms to Red Mountain High School in Mesa, the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office said.
The agency said that investigators arrested the girl at her home Thursday morning and that she admitted posting the threat.
The school was in session Thursday.
Investigators said they received a tip late Wednesday from Canadian police who were alerted to the posting by the group that set up the YouTube channel where the posting was made.
The girl was booked on suspicion of computer tampering and of intimidation and making threats.

Power outage hits Douglas and Bisbee
A power outage affected Bisbee and Douglas on Thursday night.
An open breaker on a transformer caused 13,500 customers to lose electricity in both cities beginning at 7:39 p.m., said Damon Gross, an Arizona Public Service spokesman based in Phoenix.
By 8:30, a total of about 6,000 customers remained without power in Douglas and Bisbee, Gross said.
Terrie Kjos, a resident of Old Bisbee, said her outdoor thermometer read 36 degrees at 9 p.m.
The community still had snow on the ground from snowfall earlier in the week, she said.
"There are some people who only have space heaters," Kjos said.
"The longer the outage, the colder it will get for people inside their homes," she said.
Gross said crews were expected to work through the night to restore power to the remaining affected customers.

Two hikers found a decomposed body in a wash south of Sierra Vista Wednesday.
The women were hiking in the area of Canada Drive, about 130 yards northeast of the road, said Carol Capas, a Cochise County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman.
The remains appear to be of a man who was wearing brown work boots, dark jeans and an unknown color shirt, Capas said.
The remains were taken to the Pima County Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy, said Capas.
