The Tucson Police Department will ramp up traffic enforcement efforts now through August to increase safety near school zones.
The back to school deployments started last Friday and officers will focus on violations involving school crossings and school buses.
TPD gives the following tips to motorists driving through school zones:
• Don't drive distracted.
• A solid red light means stop.
• A flashing red light is treated as a stop sign.
• Obey the 15 mph speed limit in school zones.
• Don't pass while in a school zone.
• Stop for pedestrians in crosswalks and wait until it is clear before continuing to drive.
