The Murphey Gallery at St. Philip’s in the HIlls Episcopal Church will host a show featuring the graphite works of Alan Jaffe and works in pastels, acrylics and charcoal by Tom Bulow
The show will kick off with an opening reception at 2 p.m. Sunday. It will run through Aug. 9.
Bulow has an eclectic set of interests, including wood carvings in 1/30 scale, which he has exhibited in venues including the Mini-Time Machine Museum in Tucson. Although carving miniatures gives him a better sense of the third dimension, he has recently returned to acrylics, pastels and charcoal. Bulow’s fascination with light and the galaxy often shows in his work.
Jaffe moved to Tucson in 2002 for its academic environment and well-established art and cultural community. Beginning art lessons as a hobbyist, he discovered an affinity for graphite drawing, and in 2011 won second place at the Arizona State Fair for his drawing of an ocelot.
