Pima Community College is permanently changing the time of its Governing Board meetings to 5:30 p.m. after seeking feedback on the idea.
The new start time was the most popular among nearly 600 employees, taxpayers and students who responded to a recent survey, a report from Chancellor Lee Lambert said.
PCC board Chairman David Longoria tried in January, in his first meeting as chairman, to impose the new start time without consulting faculty, the rest of the Governing Board or others who might be affected.
Longoria maintained it was his prerogative as the board’s new leader to unilaterally change its traditional meeting time of 7 p.m.
Fellow board members overruled him and ordered college officials to seek input before making the change.
