Dr. Bradley Schwartz, already facing a life prison sentence, is now facing another medical malpractice lawsuit.
Last week, Tucson attorney Carter Morey filed the lawsuit against Schwartz on behalf of Gary Russell.
The suit claims Schwartz, a pediatric ophthalmologist, "negligently examined, diagnosed, treated and otherwise provided health care" for Russell.
Russell is seeking unspecified compensatory and punitive damages.
Schwartz was convicted May 2 of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder in connection with the October 2004 slaying of his former medical associate, Dr. David Brian Stidham. Jurors were unable to reach a unanimous decision on the first-degree murder charge itself, and prosecutors are expected to announce next week if they will try Schwartz again on that charge.

Schwartz is also confronting at least two other medical malpractice lawsuits. According to court documents, the plaintiffs in those cases claim Schwartz operated on them while under the influence of prescription drugs.
Morey said Monday that more details about Russell's allegations will be released at a later date.
Tom Slutes, Schwartz's civil attorney, declined to comment, saying he had not yet seen the lawsuit.
