New chicken joint opens Friday in Marana
A new Mexican grill will celebrate its grand opening Friday in Marana.
Chickenuevo's fifth Tucson-area location is at 4640 W. Ina Road, which is east of Interstate 10.
The restaurant is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.
Chickenuevo serves marinated grilled chicken, chicken salad, carne asada, homemade desserts and more.

Fly model aircrafts this weekend in OV
Members of the Sonoran Desert Flyers will help you learn to use electric-powered, radio-controlled model aircrafts this weekend at Naranja Park, 660 W. Naranja Drive.

The event runs from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday and Sunday.
Members of the group will help people assemble and fly their model airplanes.
Loaner planes will be available to fly for people who do not own a plane.
The event is free, but donations of canned food will be accepted on behalf of Interfaith Community Services.
Free beverages, snacks and door prizes will be provided.
The event is presented by the Sonoran Desert Flyers in partnership with the Academy of Model Aeronautics and Oro Valley parks and recreation.
Pima Federal Credit Union is the event sponsor.

Anxiety, depression talk is Saturday at St. Mark's
A free presentation on anxiety and depression in young people will be offered Saturday at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, 1431 W. Magee Road.
"From Anxiety to Depression: Preventing Suicide in Teens and Young Adults" starts at 9 a.m. and is open to the public.
Dottie Poczulp, of The Center for Life Skills Development, will lead the presentation and help people learn to identify and respond to warning signs and learn how to get help for a loved one.

Youth free-throw contest is Sat. at Coronado K-8
Catalina Mountain Elks Lodge No. 2815 will hold a free-throw shooting contest Saturday at Coronado K-8 School, 3401 E. Wilds Road.
The Elks' Hoop Shoot contest is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to noon.
There is no charge to participate. The contest is open to boys and girls ages 8-13.
Contestants will be divided into different age groups and each will shoot 25 free throws.
Boys and girls in each age group with the best scores advance to compete in a district contest.
Take free guided tour of Heritage River Park
A free guided tour of the Marana Heritage River Park will be offered Jan. 10.
The River Park and farm tour starts at 1:30 p.m. at the Heritage House, 12375 N. Heritage Park Drive.
Marilyn Robinson will serve as tour guide.

Plant trees Jan. 14 for TogetherGreen
Volunteers are invited to plant trees with the town of Marana, the Tucson Audubon Society and Trees Please on Jan. 14 as part of TogetherGreen Day.
Trees will be planted from 8 a.m. to noon at the El Rio Open Space site.
To get to the site, take Interstate 10 to Twin Peaks Road and go west to Coachline Road. Turn right on Coachline Road and travel about a mile. Turn right onto a dirt road that's located just after a small utility building. Follow the dirt road until it ends near the site.
Volunteers are asked to wear work clothes and shoes, and also bring a water bottle and gloves.
Tools, loaner gloves, water refills, coffee and breakfast snacks will be provided.
