This is the latest in a series of articles about things to do in the Foothills. We've come up with a list of some of the top fun attractions, and we're featuring one each week.
The attraction: Morris K. Udall Center and Udall Park.
Where is it? 7200 E. Tanque Verde Road.
What are the hours?: 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. weekdays; 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays; noon to 6 p.m. Sundays. The center is closed on major holidays.
What's it all about? The center is a city of Tucson Parks and Recreation Department facility. Several leisure classes are offered there throughout the year. The department's Web site lists a host of amenities at the center, including a pool, arts and crafts rooms, a weight-training area, indoor fitness track, racquetball courts and a gym.

At the park, there's a playground, amphitheater, fitness track, horseshoe area, bocce court, lighted volleyball courts, ramadas, and fields for baseball, softball and soccer. The complex is also home to the Udall Senior Addition.
What's so great about it? The reasons people go to the center or park vary almost as widely as the offerings there.
John Williams, 17, regularly uses the basketball courts. "All the people are really friendly. You don't have to worry about fights breaking out," he says. "It's just a good environment."
Kevin Lohmeier, 14, also plays basketball at the center. "I love the gym," he says. "They have clean drinking fountains. It's a nice setup — nice hoops, nice rims, nice backboards and good lines on the floors."
Udall Senior Addition members Jon Alubowicz and his wife, Judy, often use the indoor walking track. "When it's winter we like to hike in Sabino Canyon, but in the summer we walk in here where it's cooler," Jon says.
Bill Hoenig swims laps at the pool about five days a week. "I can come here any time," he says. "The hours are great."
How popular is it? The center is used by about 3,500 people a month, with an additional 800 a month at the Senior Addition.
How much does it cost? Prices range from $1.50 to $5 for daily use, $36 to $130 for quarterly use and $125 to $490 for an annual pass. For a complete breakdown of prices, go online to www.tucsonaz.gov/parksandrec/ Rec_Centers/rec_centers.html.
