Diane Tucker of Tucson was crowned Mrs. America 2006 during its 30th anniversary pageant here on Wednesday night.
Tucker, 29, an accountant executive with a mortgage company, competed as Mrs. Arizona. Mrs. Colorado, Marney Duckworth, was first runner-up.
The pageant was held at Loews Ventana Canyon Resort. John O'Hurley, of "Dancing with the Stars" fame, and his wife, Lisa, hosted the pageant.
This is the first time Tucson has hosted the event. Contestants spent two weeks taking in the Old Pueblo and its restaurants.
The first of the Mrs. America pageant series dates to 1938, but it was canceled after 1968, only to be revived in 1977.
Contestants ranged in age from 23 to 44. They were judged on their interviews and on how well they presented themselves in an evening gown and swimsuit.
