A 20-year-old Tucson man was arrested Wednesday morning in connection with a slaying outside a South Side gas station last week.
Anthony Gabriel Pesqueira was booked into the Pima County jail on suspicion of first-degree murder, drive-by shooting, aggravated assault and firing at an occupied structure — the Diamond Shamrock at 920 E. 22nd St., near South Park Avenue, on May 15.
Pesqueira, of the 3000 block of South Mann Avenue, was arrested in connection with the shooting that killed Victor M. Rivera, 28, said Sgt. Decio Hopffer, a Tucson Police Department spokesman.
Rivera was at the gas station around 9:20 p.m. when shots rang out in the parking lot, police said at the time. Rivera, of the 1600 block of West Ajo Way, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The motive as well as the relationship between victim and suspect have yet to be determined, Hopffer said.

The Tucson Police Department's gang unit is investigating because some of the people involved have potential gang affiliations, Hopffer said.
"We know there are more witnesses to this homicide and we urge them to contact 911 or 88-CRIME," Hopffer said.
Pesqueira was also booked on three unrelated failure-to-appear charges. He remained in jail Wednesday evening in lieu of $75,300 bond.
