1825: Charles Poston, "Father of Arizona," is born. He would become the Arizona Territory's first delegate to the U.S. House of Representatives.
1877: The town of Globe is founded.
1927: The town of Globe celebrates its 50th anniversary with 50,000 people, including Gov. George W.P. Hunt who had first entered Globe in 1881, riding a mule and seeking his fortune.
1931: Funeral services are held for Mrs. Helen Duett Hunt, wife of Arizona Gov. George W.P. Hunt.
1969: Arizona Daily Star readers are invited to guess — down to the second — what time a man will step on the moon.
