JOE VITTI / ARIZONA DAILY STAR 1983 On Feb. 13, 1983, the Marana Volunteer Fire Department station was renamed in honor of the late mayor of Marana, Don Frew. Frew's widow, Wilda, had the honor of cutting the ribbon at the Don Frew Station, at 13479 N. Sandario Road just south of Grier Road. According to then-Chief Bill Gaudette, Frew had aided the department in many ways. The Marana Volunteer Fire Department was disbanded in 1992.
