What: Ben’s Bells promote kindness and community involvement. Each week a person who makes Tucson better is “belled.”
Last week’s recipient: Dr. Mark Bazzell, anesthesiologist and director of critical care medicine at the University of Arizona Medical Center.
Nominated by: Kevin C. Storey, Kristin Schwartz.
Why: For his care and compassion dealing with patients and their families. He provides guidance and a steady voice of reason when dealing with families of patients, especially those dealing with an end-of-life situation, wrote Schwartz in her nomination letter. “The care he has provided to patients and families, his support of the nursing staff and his mentorship of future physicians will forever have a positive impact on our community,” Schwartz wrote.
