A fire affecting multiple houses in Nogales has forced the evacuation of the Mexican Consulate, authorities said.
The fire is burning in an area near the intersection of Ellis Street and Potrero Drive, said Lt. Octavio Gradillas, a Nogales Police Department spokesman.
Firefighters from several fire departments, including the Rio Rico Fire District and the Nogales, Sonora Fire Department, are assisting the Nogales City Fire Department, Gradillas said.
The Mexican Consulate, on Cardwell Street, was evacuated as a precautionary measure, Gradillas said.
