Social service groups and local businesses will build a meditation garden at a north-side park this spring.
“The idea behind this, and the idea that brought all these people together, is to provide a place of quiet contemplation for people who are grieving a loss or for people who just want a quiet place to be in natural surroundings,” Mayor Jonathan Rothschild said in a project announcement Friday.
The city is providing land for the project at Rio Vista Natural Resource Park, at the north end of Tucson Boulevard along the Rillito River.
The project is funded in part by a $5,000 donation to the Tucson Parks Foundation from Pasadera Behavioral Health Network.
Horticulture Unlimited, Civano Nursery, Sprinkler World, Arizona Trucking, Churchman Sand and Gravel, and JRD Masonry are donating time and materials.
