BENJIE SANDERS /ARIZONA DAILY STAR 1988 The vote was the first order of business when the Arizona Historic Sites Review Committee met on Jan. 21, 1988, at the Arizona Inn. The vote was unanimous. The historic inn, built by Arizona's first female representative to Congress, was nominated to the National Register of Historic Places. Before the meeting, the committee, shown here, was given a tour of the hotel at 2200 E. Elm St. The Arizona Inn, built in 1930, was nominated because of its role in the beginnings of the tourism industry in Arizona and because of founder Isabella Greenway's congressional service from 1933 to 1936.
