1856: The first Post Office to be opened in Arizona Territory is established at Fort Buchanan in the Sonoita Valley.
1871: It rained continuously in Clifton for 30 hours. The resulting floods kill 18 people.
1934: Tucsonian found frozen to death; case believed to be first of its kinds in the history of the Old Pueblo.
