Try Ascension school for one day Oct. 13
Ascension Lutheran School's "A Free Day of School" event invites children to spend a day in an Ascension classroom next month.
Children in grades K-5 can attend Ascension Oct. 13 at no cost.
Parents are welcome to observe classroom activities in the morning.
Students can stay for the entire school day, which is from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., or leave at 11:30 a.m. with their parents.
Children must bring their own lunch and snacks if they plan to stay for the entire school day.
Call the school at 742-6229 to reserve a spot.
Parents must register their children for the free day of school by Oct. 7.

Friends of libraries needs receipts
The Friends of the Marana Unified School District Libraries is collecting receipts to earn cash at three northwest-area Safeway stores now through Oct. 13.
People who shop with their Safeway card can drop their receipts in yellow boxes near customer-service stations at the following Safeway stores:
• 9100 N. Silverbell Road, near West Twin Peaks Road.
• 9705 N. Thornydale Road, near West Linda Vista Boulevard.
• 7110 N. Oracle Road, near West Ina Road.
The district's libraries will receive 10 percent of the total of each receipt.
Free homework help at Catalina library
Free homework help is available Tuesdays at the Dewhirst-Catalina Library in northern Pima County.
Tutoring for virtually any grade level, including adults, is available from 4 to 6:30 p.m.
