What: Ben’s Bells promote kindness and community involvement. Each week a person who makes Tucson better is “belled.”
Last week’s recipient: Rob Harrison, varsity boy’s basketball coach at Sunnyside High School.
Nominated by: Andy Townsend, principal at Elvira Elementary School.
Why: For being more than just a coach to the students at Sunnyside. Harrison is an academic interventionist at the school and helps students achieve academic success in many ways, Townsend wrote. “He exemplifies kindness, selflessness and genuine dedication to helping those around them,” Townsend wrote. He recently helped two students who were stressed because of family financial difficulties. He offered the students to have meals at his house and worked with the district to find community resources to help them.
