A 71-year-old security guard at Cienega High School was arrested for "an inappropriate relationship with a 15-year-old student," a sheriff's spokesman said Thursday.
Eric Oswald was cited Nov. 8 for contributing to the delinquency of a minor, said Deputy Tracy Suitt, a Pima County Sheriff's Department spokesman.
Oswald was released on the same day because it was a misdemeanor charge, said Suitt.
An investigation began Oct. 25 after school officials heard rumors about the student and Oswald and contacted the sheriff's department, Suitt said.
Investigators found that Oswald and the student kissed in the school locker room when she was age 14, Suitt said.
"The romantic kisses on the mouth" continued several times when she turned age 15, said Suitt.

The teen, who first denied any relationship with Oswald, confessed the kissing to detectives during further questioning, Suitt said.
The girl told detectives that Oswald did not touch her inappropriately, said Suitt.Â
Calvin Baker, superintendent of the Vail Unified School District, sent a letter Thursday to parents stating that "it is personally troubling and disheartening when allegations are made that a staff member has violated our most basic mission," which is to provide "safe and nurturing school communities."
"When the district became aware of the allegations, the employee was placed on administrative leave. He has since resigned," Calvin said in the letter.
