The Enchanted Desert Garden, at 11011 E. Tanque Verde Road, held an "enchanted autumn celebration" Sunday that included face painting, pumpkin patches, free food and live music.
"We've only been open about six weeks now," said Whitney Haman, one of the nursery's co-owners. "We never had a formal grand opening so we're celebrating it today by doing this for the neighborhood."
Enchanted Desert Garden also is getting involved in the community by helping students at Tanque Verde Elementary School design their own garden.
The nursery will provide flowers and plants for the garden and do the heavy planting work, Haman said. Then students will have the opportunity to plant smaller plants.
Enchanted Desert Garden is accepting donations for the school project. Call 468-2785 for more information.
