A crash on Tucson's south side killed a 48-year-old woman Sunday morning. Police have identified her as Elizabeth G. Acuña.
The crash happened shortly after 1 a.m. on East Benson Highway and South Kino Gateway.
She was a passenger in a Dodge Charger driven by a 41-year-old male who driving northbound on South Tucson Boulevard, approaching East Irvington Road when he lost control of the vehicle and left the roadway, police said.
The driver then turned around in the dirt area, drove back onto Benson Highway, but drove across the northbound lanes then over the raised median, before continuing northwest in the
southeast lanes of Benson Highway, police said.

southeast-bound lanes, while the Charger was still traveling into oncoming traffic.
The driver and sole occupant of the Altima, a 26-year old female, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. They were not considered life-threatening, police said.
The driver of the Dodge Charger was also hospitalized with serious injuries.
Detectives believe alcohol was likely a factor in the collision. The investigation is ongoing. Charges are pending against the male driver of the Dodge Charger, who police have not identified.
